چکیده

We study cosmologies in modified theories of gravity considering Lagrangian density f(R) which is a polynomial function of scalar curvature (R) in the Einstein-Hilbert action in vacuum. The field equation obtained from the modified action corresponding to a Robertson-Walker metric is highly non-linear and not simple enough to obtain analytic solution. Consequently we adopt a numerical technique to study the evolution of the FRW universe. A number of evolutionary phases of the universe including the present accelerating phase are found to exist in the higher derivative theories of gravity. The cosmological solutions obtained here are new and interesting. We study modified theory of gravity as a toy model to explore the past, the present and predict the future evolution. It is found that all the models analyzed here can reproduce the current accelerating phase of expansion of the universe. The duration of the present accelerating phase is found to depend on the coupling constants of the gravitational action. The physical importance of the coupling parameters those considered in the action are also discussed. PACS numbers : 98.80.Cq [email protected] [email protected]

Noether Symmetry in f(T) Theory at the anisotropic universe

As it is well known, symmetry plays a crucial role in the theoretical physics. On other hand, the Noether symmetry is a useful procedure to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to discover the exact solution to the given lagrangian. In this work, Noether symmetry in f(T) theory on a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type I universe is considered. We discuss the Lagran...

The Dynamics Driving Cosmological Acceleration: Dark Energy or Modified Gravity?

This phenomenological review stresses the distinction between kinematics), the description of the recently inflationary universe (cosmography), and dynamics, the mechanism driving this accelerating expansion. Because the homogeneous expansion history H(z) of the universe measures only kinematic variables, it cannot fix the underlying dynamics: cosmographic measurements of the homogeneous univer...

Viscous String Cosmological Models in Alternative Theory of Gravity

Recently observational data indicates that the discrepancy arises at late time, when the age of the universe is some billions years. In this context the Friedmann-RobertsonWalker model is a unique correspondence between the expansion rate and the distance scale. Although general theory of relativity (GTR) is the most suitable theory for describing universe as a whole, but still there are some p...

Gauge/gravity correspondence in accelerating universe

We discuss time-dependent backgrounds of type IIB supergravity realizing gravitation duals of gauge theories formulated in de Sitter space-time as a tool of embedding de Sitter in a supergravity. We show that only the gravitational duals to non-conformal gauge theories are sensitive to a specific value of a Hubble parameter. We consider two nontrivial solutions of this type: a gravity dual to s...

Relativistic effects in galaxy clustering in a parametrized post - Friedmann universe

We explore the signatures of quintessence and modified gravity theories in the relativistic description of galaxy clustering within a parametrized post-Friedmann framework. For this purpose, we develop a calibration method to consistently account for horizon-scale effects in the linear parametrized post-Friedmann perturbations of minimally and nonminimally coupled scalar-tensor theories and tes...
